Elaine Lake, Director
Elaine received a degree in Library Science from Central Washington University in 1981 and worked as a school librarian before moving to Oshkosh, Nebraska in 1982.
Elaine began working at the Oshkosh Public Library in 1986 and resigned 10 years later to raise a family. After working as a school librarian and teacher for many years, she is back working at her favorite library! She says, “I never know who will walk in the library door. I do anything from make copies, find genealogical records, introduce new books to kids – lots of different, fun things everyday!”
Mike Boone, Circulation Assistant
Mike, a long-time resident of Oshkosh, has enjoyed employment at the Oshkosh Library since August 2015. Mike not only checks out books to patrons, he covers and repairs all of the books.
Like most public libraries, the Oshkosh Public Library is a division or department of the city in which it is located, City of Oshkosh. Governance of the library ultimately falls on the Oshkosh City Council. However, the Oshkosh City Council has deferred most policy making decisions to a Library Advisory Board. Library Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday every other month at 5:00 pm at the library. Below are current Library Board members:
